Banner Mountain Bluebirds

Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird are back again today. They love Banner Mountain and here is where they'll stay. Sparrows took their birdhouse and the bluebirds took to trees. Their nest is well-hidden in the thick, green leaves. © Freeda Baker Nichols

  1. Those little sparrows take over our birdhose every year…Others don’t have a chance…but, trees were meant to be their original home weren’t they?…so they should be fine!

    • The Mr. Bluebird has a routine of showing up and almost every day I see him getting food. So I know Mrs Bluebird must be on a nest. There are certain dead limbs on a pine tree that he often sits on. I have a few photos of him as he stops there and once I snapped his picture in the birdbath. He seem to be different from bluebirds we have had here. A different species, maybe.

    • Yes. I keep my camera close and watch for them in the front yard. They fly from the trees to the ground hunting insects and are often together. The Mrs. Bird is not nesting yet but I do hope they have a nest that’s safe from my cats.
